Andrew Ryan

I realized the other day I rarely, if ever, have posted about my nephew, Drew. Weekend before last, he spent a day with me and we had such a good time. We will have a new nephew (thanks to Ronnie and Dawn) in January, so I thought I would take the opportunity to tell a few of the things I love about being Drew's Lala (that's Aunt Charla in Drew-speak) as well as some random facts about him.

-There's nothing like walking into the room and hearing "Hi, Lala" from the sweetest little face you've ever seen.

-Drew loves to cuddle and is very good at it. He's one of the most loving children I've ever been around (that has everything to do with his mommy).

-I love it when he crams food into his mouth and just when you think there's not anywhere else more will fit, he finds a place, and has to hold his hand up to his mouth to keep it from falling out.

-When Drew wants you to go somewhere, he grabs your finger or pushes your legs forward from behind and says "C'on Lala."

-He's obsessed with tractors...anything and everything! You really can't comprehend it until you are around the child for more than a few hours and realize he truly borders on OCD when it comes to the large machines. He rides the tractor for 3 and 4 hours at a time with his Daddy or Pawpaw.

-Richard and I bought him a stuffed horse for Valentine's Day last year. It has a heart around it's neck that says "I love you." He cannot go anywhere without his "Sissy" now. I love that he is so in love with something we gave him! The thought of him dragging that horse around by his tail with his thumb stuck in his mouth makes me want to just love on him all over.

-He loves puppies. He walks around and says "Barley" for Marley and when he sees them or wants to give them kisses, he puts his lips together like he is about to whistle, but instead makes a cooing sound. Of course they then lick him right in the mouth and he laughs!

-If he gets in trouble, he will sit himself in the timeout chair at their house because he knows where it is and what it's for. I'm amazed he can do that at 2!

-He was born October 19, 2004 and weighed in at 10 lbs. 3 oz. (and he hasn't quit).

-Dawn took him to the doctor for his 2 year checkup and she was told he will probably be around 6 ft. 3 in. tall (his parents are about 5 ft. 11 in. and 5 ft. 2 in.). We think this must come from his Granddad Cummings and his uncle Rich (Sich, to Drew).

-I miss him like crazy and am so thankful he is part of our lives.

  1. This is SUCH a sweet post! Can I start calling you Aunt Lala? And I love that he calls Marley, Barley! TOO CUTE! Is he getting a brother or a sister in January?
