"How Do You Two Not Have a Show On Bravo?"

If you STILL haven't at least checked out GLEE this season, you are a FOOL!  Okay, so that might be a little harsh, but you are definitely missing out on the show of the year, of the decade if you ask me.

Here are just a few quotes from this week's episode, #16, "Home."

-Sue Sylvester (see title of this post)

-Sue Sylvester, coach of WMHS Cheerios (cheerleading squad): "I've got to put in a call to the Ohio Secretary of State notifying them I will no longer be carrying photo id---you know why?  People should know who I am."

-April Rhodes, WMHS graduate and former GLEE member (played by Kristen Chenoweth): "You're looking for a subletter, I'm looking for a place to stay...one catch, I'm full-time fancy now, Will.  I'm gonna wanna check the place out...I'm gonna wanna check the fun shong, or the fing fong or whatever they call it.  Tell ya what...I'm gonna go get myself bikini wax, and I'm gonna see you tomorrow."

-Brittany, Cheerio member: "I'm pretty sure my cat's been reading my journal."

-Sue Sylvester: "Mercedes, your vocal chords have had more fantastic runs than a Kenyan track team."

I could obviously go on and on, but for those less enthused about Glee (obviously only those who have never seen an episode), I will spare you.

You can tune in and hear them all for yourself, Tuesdays on Fox!

God in the Media...and Everywhere Else He Should Be!

Lately I've been blessed to catch several faith-inspired programs or stories on t.v.  Some are on conservative talk shows, but others have been in the mainstream, liberal Media, which is a pleasant surprise to their usual tight-lipped ways when it comes to any mention of faith.

First, my sister-in-law called and insisted I DVR Glenn Beck's report on Faith in America.  If you haven't watched it, please do!  It is well worth the time it takes to listen through it.  Talk about an eye-opener!  Wow!  If only we could bring faith into our schools and government as it was intended to be!  Go here to watch/listen to it.

The other day I was listening to the Huckabee Report on my way to school.  I just love his common sense approach to things.

He mentioned Nebraska's new laws concerning abortion and as I listened I just thanked God for Governor Dave Heineman who led the change in legislation.  The law is two-fold.  First, it holds doctors CIVILLY responsible for performing extensive screening on women seeking an abortion in Nebraska.  Second, and most controversial, is the banning of abortions at 20 weeks past fertilization due to what has been reported as fetal pain.

Praise God we still have people in leadership positions who will stand up for what they believe in and stand on what the forefather's intended for our country.  Go here for the full story.

Then, this morning I was watching Good Morning America as I got ready for work.  I'm sure you've heard the story about the little girl with autism in Florida, who walked off on a nature hike and was lost in the swampland for four days.  Her story was on GMA, and the man who found her, a fellow church member of her family's gave ALL THE GLORY of finding her to God.  He never took any credit, but said God led him straight to her as he prayed and recited scripture aloud, hacking his way through the swampland.  His interview was about 5 minutes long and he said the Lord's name at least as many times.  He seemed so humble and full of the Spirit; I was taken aback somewhat by his courage and his insistence that he was not to credit for finding her.

I think he was living up to Paul's instructions to the people of Thessalonica:

2 Thessalonians 2: 15-17  So, friends, take a firm stand, feet on the ground and head high. Keep a tight grip on what you were taught, whether in personal conversation or by our letter. May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech.

Straighten Those Rabbit Ears

Tonight is a great night for television.  American Idol continues, as does the Biggest Loser (and this season is FULL of DUH-RAH-MA...hello, Miggy and Migdalia).

However, what I'm most looking forward to is the premiere of the LAST SEASON (sniff-sniff) of our favorite show, Lost.

I can't believe this is the last season, and yet it is definitely time.  I won't even try to begin to explain the plot of the show, but I will tell you if you haven't ever seen it, I highly recommend renting the DVDs of each season and starting from the beginning.  You will be SUCKED IN!!!!  Oooh, so good.

To everything there is a season, I suppose.  I ended 2009 with a new favorite, GLEE!  And I will begin 2010 saying goodbye to a goodie, LOST!  But I won't grab the tissues yet...I've got a whole season to enjoy before it's time for that!

I'm kind of a t.v. junkie.  I'm tempted to feel bad about that, but ever the optimist I'll just say there could be worse things, right?  Just keepin' it real.

I'm interested...what are your favorite shows?

3 Things

1.) Have you seen Glee? If you are as big a fan of musicals as I am, you will LOVE this show! I heard about it but didn't actually watch an episode until last night. Oh. My. Goodness. I'm sure I will fall in love with it, only to have it canceled after one season, but I will enjoy it as long as it is around. Check it out, and let me know what you think. Wednesdays, 8:00 p.m. on Fox. Go here to watch this week's episode.
2.) Guess where my happy hiney was this morning at 6:15? Yeppers. I was at the gym. See the pic above? It could be me, I guess except for one small detail...that HUGE smile on her face. Me, smiling after getting up earlier than usual? Not so much. After a 3-month hiatus for a leg injury, I finally got myself out of bed and hit the treadmill. It was okay, but I've definitely atrophied, especially in my stamina and cardio. Hopefully in 3 weeks or so, it will be nothing and I will be back on my way to my first 5K. Around here that's chump change, so don't get too excited. We have people running 1/2 and full marathons like it's nuthin', so I try to keep my goal in perspective!

3.) You're gonna laugh, but between the time I started this post, and the time I got to #3, I have forgotten what I was going to write. Hmm...well, I can't remember, so I'll just tell you all that we're hosting 11th and 12th grade girls at our house for Disciple Now and I'm really looking forward to it. This is a great group of young ladies and I'm excited about what God is going to do with them this weekend!

Good Things DO Happen to Good People

Although I haven't really blogged about it much this season, I, once again, have been addicted to Big Brother 11.
All season my two favorites have been Jordan and Jeff, a.k.a. The Showmance!
I did like Laura (even though she was slightly too obsessed with her "endowments"), because she was smart and sassy.

If you didn't watch, then you won't understand but, Chima is one of the worst examples of sportsmanship I've ever seen. I kept asking myself if I really believed she was as old as she says she was, because she didn't seem a day over 13 to me. Wow. Youtube her fit throwing and you'll see what I mean. Eventually she was kicked off the show for her antics...yep it was that bad!

Anywho, tonight was finale night and I am SO HAPPY to report that JORDAN has won BB11!! She is so honest, sincere, funny and a fellow GRITS (Girl Raised in the South) so she has a great accent, too!

And the sugar on top...Jeff, her cohort and confidante through the game, and my personal favorite in the house, won America's Favorite Houseguest (yes, I voted...hee hee), which earned him $25,000.

So you see, after a few seasons of people with names like Evel Dick winning the half a million dollars and then coming back to the show this year looking completely stoned, we finally have someone I feel confident will use the money for good!

This Is So Cool!!

Although I no longer watch Oprah on a regular basis, I HAD to DVR the kickoff party episode because my all-time favorite, James Taylor was singing! So when I got home from school today I was excited to play it back and see which song he had chosen to perform as a sing-a-long with the crowd (it was How Sweet It Is).

What I didn't expect was the AMAZING performance by The Black-Eyed Peas, which actually had little to do with their actual performance (although I LOVE their new song I Gotta Feeling...it's so upbeat and positive and a great way to start every day)!

Anyway, while they were singing, this happened. Check out the girl in the very front by the stage; at first I think she's just a little over-zealous fan, but watch what happens.

So COOL!!!

The Epidemic Continues

Not long ago, I posted here about how my heart is so heavy and saddened by the state of and attitude towards marriages in our society, as well as those of some dear friends of ours.

While I know many of you will find it ridiculous and I've had others say they've completely written the family off, I have to tell you tonight I sat in bed and sobbed tears for the Gosselin family as I watched the announcement that first, they were separating, and then that as of today, a petition had been filed for the dissolution of their ten-year marriage.

If you've read this blog for any length of time, you know my position on marriage and it's sacredness. While, as always, I mean no judgement on anyone facing divorce (my husband has been married and divorced once before I met him, so I have personal experience with how much hurt it can cause both the people involved as well as the people around them) or having the fresh wounds and heartache of such, I also must say that I can't help but deeply grieve for this family as if I knew them personally. I'm not the "star-struck" type. I don't normally care about celebrities or get into the tabloid gossip. But unlike a movie star or singer/songwriter's fame, this family became well-known for being just that...a family. And however hard they will try to make things normal for their children (and they have gone above and beyond the norm in most ways), these children will always be part of a broken home and will always have this as their legacy, and it makes my heart truly ache for all 10 of them.

Kate said she wasn't sure Jon understood the ramifications of this choice and that she never expected her children, years down the road, would be the ones talking to friends and having to say, "My parents divorced when I was (fill in the blank age)."

When she said that, I realized just how real this family is because I'm sure this is how most parents feel when they come to the point of divorce in their marriage. I can't imagine parent ever believes this is where they would end up and that their children would perhaps have stepparents and have to split their time between homes.

America has been invested in this family for five years now and, as they have been in our homes every Monday night, they have, in a sense, become like family to us. We yelled at Kate as she berated Jon, we laughed as the kids pulled crazy stunt after crazy stunt, and we now cry as the end of their union comes only months after renewing their wedding vows.

I am so sad. Criticize me if you will. I know it's a t.v. show. I know I don't know the whole story. But I don't have to. I think each of us has things we are super-sensitive about for whatever reason, and I believe the sanctity and beauty of marriage is one for me.

I sincerely pray that this family will find the peace they are searching for and that the foundation of their faith will remind them that TRUE peace doesn't come from being independent, or standing up for yourself, or being able to pay for each and every one of your children's college education, or doing "your own thing" because it's just too difficult to come together.

Instead of criticizing them, let's pray for them, won't you? This family needs Christian love now more than ever.

"The Lord gives His people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace." Psalm 29:11

What in the world...?

I was perusing FoxNews this morning and stumbled upon this story. I do NOT understand where things fell apart for this child, but someone has done him an injustice somewhere along the line. To be a nine-year-old with a wrap sheet longer than most 25 year-olds is scary!Everyday I am more and more anxious about someday bringing a child into this world. Here's the story...
