Minus Two

Whelp. It's done. And it couldn't have gone better. Here's the run down, and it's not very exciting, so get ready.

We had to be there at 8:15 this morning, and my dentist is a half hour from us. So, we were up early and out the door. McH kept asking if I was nervous and as I said before, it never crossed my mind to be because I really like the dentist however weird that is.

And I love the drugs. I'll be honest.

So, I take the first pill as soon as I get there. I start getting a little drowsy and 30 minutes later I get the second. Within 10 minutes I'm feeling great and they take me back.

While I was "under" Dr. B filled a cavity they found at my teeth cleaning last week. Something I wasn't expecting was the cracking as they broke my teeth to get them out. Never knew they did that. I've seen pics of the teeth all whole and nasty, but I didn't have a need to see mine as I was leaving the office. Under normal circumstances I probably would have loved to see them, but I was seriously only thinking about getting in the car so I could go to sleep. HA!

I'm pretty sure they gave me gas as well as the conscious sedation unless I was getting oxygen for some reason.

Whatever the cocktail, it worked like a charm and I had a nice snooze. I don't even know how long it took, but McH said he thought it was about an hour.

As soon as we got home, I got in bed and was OUT until about 3:30 this afternoon.

My mouth has been sore and even hurt for a while until I could take my next pain pill.

So, I've spent the day eating ice cream, sleeping, watching television and sleeping some more!

Ah...how many teeth do you think I could spare?

Because You Begged

So, maybe that was in my dreams, but I can pretend like you begged me to post something new because it had been too long, right? And I did have ONE request for another post soon, so that counts, huh? Good, I'm glad you agree!

Unfortunately I feel like I've been in a blogging slump. I don't feel like there's much to write about, but I will try to come up with a few things for your reading pleasure...ha!

First, we have a doctor's appointment in Lubbock with Dr. Dorsett, our fertility specialist. Basically, there are three levels in the process of getting pregnant in our situation.
We've already done the Clomid/IUI step, so we're going to start the second level, which involves injectable fertility drugs and IUI (Intrauterine Insemination...aka Artifical Insemination). So, we go to Lubbock Monday to start that process. Of course we would love your prayers.

Then, Tuesday I go to the dentist to FINALLY get my wisdom teeth removed. I've only ever had the two top ones, and forever was told that until they started to hurt me they were fine. Well, the left one has decided to come in for the last couple of years and it is now really bothering me. So, I'm going to go ahead and have them taken out and have a cavity filled all at the same time. I've had so many dental procedures done to me, I'm just completely relaxed about this whole thing. In fact, I'm kind of looking forward to it, because I get to have conscious sedation, and y'all it is the BEST nap you will ever have! Is that disturbing? Hee hee...maybe so, but it's the truth! That's why they won't let you have the meds yourself. You get to the doctor an hour before your actual appointment and they start giving you pills until you basically fall asleep.
Last time I did this, I was sitting on a love seat with McH in the lobby of the periodontist's office and I had already had one pill. I said I didn't think it was working. About that time, I literally started sliding off the seat and McH had to grab me, and lay me down and I just fell sound asleep. But when it was time to go in, I could get up, walk in and sit in the chair. LOVE THAT STUFF!!

I've been playing a lot of golf lately and I'm really loving it! Every Friday at the CC there is couple's golf tournament. We play scramble and it is so much fun! McH has really wanted me to play golf with him, but every time I went out I would get frustrated and leave more stressed than when I came. But for some reason, and I know this sounds crazy, but ever since I turned 30 a couple of months ago, I've been much more laid back and relaxed about life in general.

I've always heard your thirties are the best years of your life. I'm thinking that may just be true! I know my thirties will hold lots of new changes for our family and I'm excited about that!

I would love to hear about your thirties!

The Post Is In

Some of you know, others may not. I had my fourth, and HOPEFULLY last, dental implant yesterday morning. I took the day off of work, and Richard drove me to Wichita Falls. As with all of the other procedures, I took two Ativan (concious sedation drugs) and settled in for a long nap. I'm telling you, I would almost have more teeth done if I could get to take that stuff...you sleep literally like a baby...undisturbed, peaceful, restful sleep! Ahhh....

Anyway, a dental implant is basically where a titanium rod is drilled into the bone and then your gum is stitched closed and left to heal. The bone must heal for 4-6 months and then an abutment with a porcelaine crown is screwed into the female end of the implant. It is expensive but is totally worth it because the alternative is a bridge which is very inconvenient.

All of this dental work is the result of a bad car accident when I was 9. I had to have plastic surgery on my face and reconstructive oral surgery. Since then, I have dealt with many issues, mainly with my teeth. It's funny because the side that endured the trauma of the accident is the only side I have trouble with...so we know my problems stem from the accident and not something else.

I slept all the way home (with the exception of a stop at McDonald's for a vanilla milk shake and some french fries) and then when we got home around 2:45 Rich put me in bed and I slept until 9:00. I got up for three hours, and went back to bed around 12:00 and slept all night! I was back at work this morning and have only had mild pain and swelling (I think from having to talk all day and teach). Woo-hoo!
