We're doing okay. At the moment, I'm keeping busy with laundry and cleaning the house and just thought about how many clothes I need to get rid of as this Spring weather starts to take over. Speaking of, I'm very thankful all of this craziness didn't take place at the height of Winter, which is already a depressing time of year. Spring brings a sense of newness and a fresh perspective I cherish.
Things that have made me smile the last 48 hours:
-Good friends who have visited, called, emailed, commented and all of their kind words
-Richard
-The thought of being pregnant again someday.
-My mom and dad...there's just something about parents that makes you feel good
-The Lion King...Richard bought us tickets to see The Lion King in Austin. I have been dying to see it for the last few years now, and he did this a while back as an early birthday present, but decided yesterday was a good day to share the surprise with me. The best part...my parents were in on the whole thing and are going with us. Next weekend, Austin here we come!
-Rich and I are going to Amarillo this weekend to get away. We are going to do all the things we don't get to do in Childress...bookstores, coffee shops, sushi/Kabuki and Saporo beer, movies, the mall. We're staying at the Ambassador and I'm just so ready to go with him somewhere!
-I called our vet to see if they had room to board the babies. This was the conversation...
Me: I wanted to see if you had room to board my two miniature schnauzers for tomorrow...we will pick them up on Sunday afternoon.
Vet Tech: Okay, let me check....yes, we have room.
Me: Okay, do you need my name or should I just bring them in?
Vet Tech: Go ahead and give me your name.
Me: Okay, the last name is Jenkins.
Vet Tech: (In an excited tone) Oh, is it Marlee and Maggie?
Me: (totally proudly, too) Oh, yes it is!
That totally made me smile...the people at Critter Care love M&M and that makes me happy.
Scripture to ponder: I am in the middle of Beth Moore's Daniel study with a group of women at church. We have studied the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and their unceasing faith in the Lord as they are being thrown into a fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar because they refused to honor any other god besides God. I love the story, and then one of my sweet, sweet friends left a comment on my blog about how our current situation reminded her of that story. First, what a true honor to be even be thought of as vaguely similar to men of such great faith as these. If you don't know the story, look it up in Daniel 1-3. Here is just a part of it from Daniel 3:16.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, "Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve CAN rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn't, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn't serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up."

Things that have made me smile in the last 48 hours:
ReplyDelete-Hearing about how your faith and family sustain you during these hard, hard times.
-Hearing about your Lion King excursion, then hearing that Will has known about it for a while, and that he didn't tell me in case I spilled the beans...however, I would never ruin a surprise.
-Knowing you have family and friends close enough to give you the love and hugs we wish we could.
-Your Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego story - I was taught to remember their names by the phrase, "Shake the bed, make the bed, and away we go!" and I always think of that when I hear their names. And it makes me smile.
Love you, sissy. If we were there, just know that we'd be treating for the sushi and Japanese beer.
