Blog-worthy and boobs and black eye

Do I have your attention now? Or are you just completely wondering what the heck this post wil be about....wonder no more...

Blog-worthy...
This is a term I love to use about information I am thinking of blogging about. Actually, I believe most information is "Blog-worthy" but not everyone agrees. Take my friend, well we'll call her "Francesca Johnson.", for instance. She is not so sure about what information is actually "blog-worthy" and this is why I must assume she hasn't posted since December...c'mon...she blames it on not having a good computer to work with, but I know that is just an excuse...she's a teacher for goodness sakes and I know for a fact she has TWO laptops! So, no excuses anymore, F.J!!

This post actually began because I know I have been a bad, bad blogger lately...since the last post we have been going two million ways in every gear except LOW! I am ready to get there and slow down. So, I have been thinking of something blog-worthy to write about and nothing really came to mind until today. I am reaching out, once again, to my blogging friends for prayers. Nothing major, but a little scary nonetheless.

Boobs...
About a week ago, I found a nodule in my breast that hasn't been there before. I do have fibrous masses normally, so I thought maybe one was just hyperactive or something. You know that little "voice" in your head that tells you things you wouldn't conciously admit or be able to say aloud. That voice kept telling me this place I had discovered was not like what I normally feel when doing a self-examination. So, I thought I would wait a week or so and see if it went away...it didn't. So, I made an appointment with my doctor for today. After a breast exam, she says she agrees she can feel a small, hard nodule there, and that I have two options. One, do a breat ultrasound (that was weird to me) in C-town and then be referred to Amarillo for further biopsy if need be...or in her words, I can go to a "one stop shop" and have the ultrasound done in AMarillo and if they decide to remove and test it, they could do it the same day. I chose the latter, and so I await a call with my appointment.

Dr. R did warn me...I will receive a new patient packet in the mail from Herrington Cancer Center. She said she had a patient freak out on her because she got the packet and thought they were telling her she had cancer. Apparently, the doctor she is sending me to works out of that building...makes sense, but I have to agree it isn't the best place to be going to the doctor.

So, please keep me and my breast (ha ha) in your prayers. I am confident things are okay so I know God's peace has already been washed over me as only He can do. Pray that the nodule will just go away and I won't have to go to the doctor at all!

Thanks.

Black Eye...
Ever wonder if you can actually give yourself a black eye? Okay, probably not, BUT if you ever did I have the perfect way to get it done! My sister-in-law and I were carrying a mattress down the stairs to the basement at our in-laws house. I was on the bottom with the weight and she was guiding from the top. The mattress got stuck on the corner of the stairs and as I pulled as hard as I could, my hand slipped and the knuckle of my left pointer finger smacked my right lower orbital bone, under my eye. It hurt like a son-of-a-gun, but after a few minutes it was okay. Yeah...the next morning I woke up with a red spot and the faintest bruising, plus some swelling. It didn't really hurt anymore...just like a bruise would, but it was hilarious! I told my students I got into a fight...they knew better and laughed when I told them the story...go ahead you can, too.

  1. Pretty funny, Charla! When do you go for your boob-a-sound? And most importantly, where are you going to eat while you're there? I suggest Taco Garcia!!!

  2. I've been wondering where you were! Anything you want to write about is blog-worthy in my book! It is always good to hear from you!
I'm glad you decided to go ahead and go to Amarillo for all of the testing. Is Richard going with you? I'll be praying it is nothing and that you will continue to be peaceful (even when your new patient packet arrives!)
I was hoping for a picture of the black eye...
