O, To Clean the Dishes Once!

Last weekend Richard and I went to Amarillo on Saturday for Homer's Backyard Ball. If you are in this area and ever have a chance to attend, I would highly recommend it. Travis Homer was a groomsman in our wedding and one of Richard's good friends from his days at Groom High School. The Ball started as just a party in the backyard eleven years ago, and in 2000 it had grown so much, it was turned into a benefit for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The past few years, it has attracted entertainers like Pat Green, Rick Trevino, and this year Charlie Robison was the headliner. Travis has invited us to come every year, but we hadn't had the chance because we lived so far away. Well, this year we went and we had a great time. It's nice to get the VIP treatment occasionally...free food, free drinks, and backstage access! So much fun. So, while we were there we left the party for a little while and hit Lowe's.

We have been in the market for a new dishwasher since the day we moved into our house. Basically, for the last two years we have been washing the dishes and then washing them again in the dishwasher...first by hand, then the machine. If we didn't, our dishes looked horrible and I would have to wash them again when they were finished. So, I've been mentioning it for a while and finally we gave in and got one! We had already picked out the most basic model of stainless steel you can get. But when we got there, we upgraded and decided on a more middle-of-the-road version. I AM IN LOVE!!!! It is so pretty and quiet and my dishes are beautiful when I put them back into the cabinet. And, it matches my fridge. Now, the only thing left to replace is the stove/oven and possibly the microwave at some point. We definitely need a new stove, so that's my new "project."

Richard unloading the dishwasher into the garage.

All wrapped up...

Installed and already used once!

Next to the...eek...smudgy refrigerator (I'm taking care of that right away)! See that plate on the countertop? It has skewered, marinated, jumbo Texas shrimp on it that I'm about to grill along with a sirloin...surf and turf anyone?

  2. We have the same dishwasher woes and are in the market. Now our dishwasher leaks. Ugh. Which one did you get? We're looking at Lowes, but I'm completely perplexed. I hate choosing and buying appliances. Since you love your new dishwasher, I'm sure I would too. Would you recommend it?

  5. I love the dishwasher...there is nothing better. A couple of weeks ago, our was out of order... I was thinking the same thing...a NEW one...but when I looked at the price of the new one...and just the $24 part...I decided to do the more responsible thing...get the part...About Homer's....I hope you had fun...that is the one of the best parties...haven't gotten to go for awhile now...either pregnant or not around...we will have to plan to go next year...Homer's should give you an idea of what GROOM DAY is kinda like...but about 1/4 of the size...That is why I am upset I am going to have to miss it this year...take care of yourself...love...steph

  6. Lovin' the new dishwasher. Look at you guys stimulating the economy with your stimulus package. Our stimulus check is sitting out in the drive-way (the boat)...it is coming along and should be finshed in about 3 weeks. Miss ya...call if you get time!
