I feel like I have so much to post about, but just haven't sat down to do any of it. So, here I am, 15 minutes before I'm supposed to be at a friend's house and I've decided this would be the "perfect" time to post! Ahhhh......
So, this post will be dedicated to the one thing I will NOT do this summer...SCHOOL!!!
First, today was the LAST day of my SIXTH year of teaching. I seriously can't believe it has been that long. Overall, this year was a good one. We are going through SO many changes at school, but all very positive. We will be sad to see some coworkers leave, my father-in-law ESPECIALLY, and will welcome, with open arms, others to the high school clan (yay, Frankie)!!! I spent the last two days getting my room closed up and grades finalized. It is a stressful time for everyone, but I tell you, the minute I walk out those doors, my shoulders fall and I can breathe a little easier, every year!
Also, I can't believe I have waited so long to post this, but last week all the English teachers were called into our principal's office for a "chat." We had no idea what this was about, but all of us sat down. After an initial jabbing and mock-disappointment from our principal and assistant principal, we were finally given our TAKS scores. Now, I had worked so hard this year with my kids, but still was SO nervous about our scores. Honestly, I was not thinking positively about the results. So, after much anticipation, I found out that 95% of my students passed their test...that means only 3 of my students didn't pass it. I had several commended and I was just overwhelmed with joy and pride. I honestly could not believe it! The other two teachers had great scores, too...95% and 97%. We all literally jumped up and screamed all at once. We hugged each other and just couldn't believe how great our kids had performed.
Much of the success of this year can be attributed to the new technology we have brought into our classrooms. I am really looking forward to what is to come in the next years. Childress is a NATIONAL leader when it comes to technology implementation and it is SO exciting!!

Congrats Lala...I am sure the technology helped, but I have a feeling that having a fun, talented, and dedicated teacher that thinks out of the box didn't hurt either!!! Way to go!
