Pregnancy Highlights: 27 Weeks

How far along: 27 weeks yesterday!

Size of Babies:  As always, R & T are a little bigger than my Baby Center emails say they should be.  At Thursday's appointment, Reese weighed 2 pounds 3 oz (53rd percentile), and Truett weighed 2 lbs. 12 oz (over 95th percentile)!  They are apparently about the size of a cauliflower (in weight)...apparently Truett is a very LARGE one!

Please say some special prayers for Baby Reese.  Our fetal/maternal specialist wants to keep an eye on her because she's quite a bit smaller than Truett.  He just wants to make sure she stays on her own growth curve and doesn't start to fall off of it.

Total Weight Gain/Lost: At the doctor Thursday, I have gained 39 pounds.  My goal was around the 45-50 mark, so I'm hoping I can steadily increase and end up somewhere between 50 and 60 pounds.  We will see. I'm not really concerned about it, honestly.  I don't want to go crazy, but as long as the babies are healthy and growing, I'm okay with it.

Maternity Clothes: Pretty much all the time.  If it's not maternity, it's L or XL, or one of McH's shirts.

Gender: Baby A is a GIRL (Reese Kathleen) and Baby B is a BOY (Truett Zeldon).

Movement: Oh, yes.  All the time!  I love feeling them move around and it's definitely gotten stronger and more obvious.  They definitely have a schedule of movements, for the most part, and have now started really getting active just when I'm about to fall asleep!  Guess I should get used to that!  HA!

Sleep:  Sleep is still touch and go.  Some times okay, other times not so great.  I'm dealing with it.  However, now that I'm home full-time, mid-morning and afternoon naps are what saves me!

What I Miss:  Sleeping well, but also being able to do things for myself.  I've started having a hard time getting around lately and I have to rest a lot during the day.  Even standing in the shower very long takes it out of me.

Cravings:  Really starting to crave sweets, but mostly in the form of cookies, or breads.  Lately, and strangely enough, I've started really, really wanting a soda of any kind, but mainly a Pepsi or Coke Zero!  Yum!  I can't wait until I can have one!!

Symptoms: Some swelling, lots of aches and pains, an extremely stuffy nose, and a BIG BELLY!  Of course there are other things but I won't dare mention them here!  HA!

Best moment for this week:  Well, of course I always love getting to see the babies, so the ultrasound on Thursday was great!  But, I also found out I do NOT have gestational diabetes...WOO HOO!  That was a great relief!
At Thursday's appointment, the nurse said they would consider delivering them as early as 35 weeks if I'm absolutely miserable or there are some other complications/reasons to do so.  Aside from that, we're still shooting for 37 weeks.  This means they could be here in as little as 8 and at most 10 weeks!  WHAT??????  I just can't believe it!

  1. Keep those babies cooking, as long as you possibly can!! You WILL be miserable at the end, but every day they stay in you longer is a day they will not likely need to be in the NICU or you'll bring home babies that are able to eat and sleep, well. My SIL was induced at 36 weeks (she wasn't even having many contractions) with her twin girls and they had many issues with acid reflux. Our boys were born at 38 weeks (my doc wasn't going to do anything prior to this) when my water broke and they came home from the hospital with me and no issues with acid reflux. My SIL wonders if her girls would have stayed those two weeks longer, if their reflux wouldn't had been as bad.

Although, I also know this is all in God's hands. It is by His grace that anything is possible. Praying for you and your sweet babies, especially as you reach the end of your pregnancy. I remember that miserable feeling, oh so well! Hang in there!

  3. YEAH for 28 weeks!!! With things winding down I too am thinking about missing little Miss K in my tummy. Cowboy had the idea of writing her a letter so she can see how I felt towards the end. Wishing, hoping, and praying for a baby makes you look at things a bit diffently so I am soaking in these last few weeks.

I can't wait to see the nursery!!! It is wonderful to put together.

  4. I remember feeling hiccups with the girls, too, several times, in fact. I haven't felt them with this little guy. Enjoy every minute!! for months after I delivered I missed being pregnant. Granted, I didn't go full term so I didn't get too huge, probably about the size I am now, and I was relaxing in bed all day. It was wonderful being able to hold those precious babies in my arms, but there is something so special about being pregnant! So glad you were blessed with the opportunity to experience this miracle!
