Slowing down, but my brakes are worn

I suppose I could say life is finally slowing down...sort of. Richard made it to Childress Sunday and even had enough energy to put up some ceiling fans. I think, in a way, he feels kind of like he needs to do at least SOMETHING on the house each day, just so I don't think he is living the high life with his parents while I'm making us some $$ teaching summer school in Bryan. Although, my life here, as busy as it still may be, has slowed down as of today.

I started summer school Friday, and it was, surprisingly enough, a GREAT day! I overheard one of my students tell his friend this was the best day of school this whole year. That was pretty amazing. I was a bit apprehensive about the whole thing, but totally felt a calling to be here for this 20 days (and NO, not just for the $$).

Anyway, from now through the next 18 days, I see myself coming to school, doing my thing-hopefully touching at least ONE life, and then heading home to have a glass of wine and sit by/in the pool, switching periodically between my book and the rim of my vino rojo.

Happy summering...

  1. I'm glad that you are teaching summer school. Kids really need teachers like you! I'm so thankful that you are you, and that you follow God's calling in your life.

    Let's go have coffee soon!

  3. Audrey,

I am in the middle of The Secret Life of Bees (which so far is FABULOUS!). DOn't know what else. I want to finish a Max Lucado book I picked up at Women of Faith conference. It is called The Cure to the Common Life. Got any suggestions. I think we should start a book club on our blogs...what do you think?
