Apples, Apples Everywhere

Although I am a fruit lover, this post has nothing to do with that. Childress has taken on a new technology challenge for the 07-08 school year. We are taking part in the Apple one-to-one initiative in our 6-12 grades. This means every student in those grades will be given an Apple laptop (as well as teachers in K-12) and our schools will continue to be updated with tools to help integrate technology into our classrooms and curriculum.

So far, this includes buying LCD projectors and having them mounted from the ceilings of every classroom, and meeting area; purchasing digital-imaging devices (a.k.a. Elmos) in every classroom; wireless mice for each teacher, and an array of software that suits our individual needs for our content area.

Anyway, we received our laptops yesterday and were in training for two days with a wonderful trainer from Apple, a Canadian named Kevin Davies.

Some of you know I was part of a technology grant when I taught in Bryan, so I have very much missed my Apple laptop and it's great to have one back!

Here is a picture of my group having fun playing with our computers today at the end of the day...from left to right Donna Smith, me, and Jody Piper.

  2. No, it was great! Just wait until your kiddos are in school...by then we will have been doing this a couple of years and it's going to be awesome. By the time they are in junior high/high school you'll be blow away!
