Yes, it is Valentine's Day and yes I am doing something special with my hubby tonight. There is a little steakhouse in McLean, about an hour and fifteen minutes from Childress, and we are meeting some of Richard's friends for dinner. I've never met them, but Richard goes on and on about what great people they are and I'm so looking forward to meeting them. They also happen to have a nine-week old baby girl (one which they tried for over 15 years to have), so I'll be in HEAVEN if they bring her with them! So, yes, I'm feeling the love this February 14th.
But that's not the only reason.
I got a call back from the lab about my results. Everything came back fine; even the abnormalities we thought might be an issue came back okay. The only thing my blood work revealed was an extremely high level of Prolactin in my system. Prolactin is made by the pituitary gland and for whatever reason, mine is overstimulated. My thyroid levels all came back normal, so it isn't affecting those. The nurse says sometimes Prolactin levels are elevated and we really don't know why. As some of you may know, Prolactin is what lactating mothers produce when they are pregnant and breastfeeding. So, I didn't go into details in my last post, and I won't in this either. I'll just say that gives us some answers and gives me some sweet relief. I have been prescribed a pill to take once a night before bed to hopefully reduce my levels back to normal. The high side of normal is 20 and my levels were at 35.5!! Wow! This was not at all what I was expecting, but is still good news. It is curable...and even better it could explain our infertility the last year. So, after 3 weeks on this medication, I will go back to Lubbock (March 7th) for follow-up bloodwork to make sure my levels are now down to normal.
One friend suggested maybe my levels never fell after my miscarriage last March. Who knows!! Just the idea of being able to conceive naturally, WITHOUT the use of Clomid or anything else, is exhilarating. I have a feeling that is what Dr. Dorsett will want us to do after my Prolactin levels check out in 3 weeks. We'll see.
I was so at peace in the last two days and I know it is because of my friends and family and their prayers. God's peace is such a blessing, and one I try not to take for granted any more. So, thanks for all of your prayers...I know it sounds cliche, but I can FEEL them, truly.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I am here again. Twice in the same day! And I found another post!Yeah! That makes so much sense! Mothers that are nursing are not supposed to be able to get pregnant. It just usually doesn't happen. How awesome that would be if it was THE REASON you were not conceiving. I am so excited for you!
