OUCHIE!!!!!

**UPDATE**
Melissa, you were right! Dr. Nall was awesome! I filled out a seriously long information sheet, Mrs. Nall (his nurse/receptionist) took my vitals and then the doc came in to talk a little while and ask some questions.

-Does it hurt here? ✔
-What about riding in the car? Excruciating? ✔
-Now, lay back, does this hurt? Nope.
-What about now? ✔ ✔

Once he was sure of what was going on, he took me next door to what you might call the torture chamber. He warned me that at the moment he's doing the adjustment it would hurt, but later it would feel great. He said I would be thinking this, "Aghh....Ahhhh." He was right. But I was more like this, "AGHHHHHHHHHHH," followed by nervous chatter.

When I came out to pay, Mrs. Nall said, "I heard you hollerin' back there!" HA!

Anyway, I've never had an adjustment before and all I can say is WOW! You should have heard it when he popped my neck and my shoulder! It was cool and disgusting all at once!

So, I go back Thursday and between now and then I'm to put ice on my hip off and on. He's going to give me some stretches to work with and he said after Thursday's appointment I should feel pretty good for our trip to COLLEGE STATION! WHOOP!

I posted a few months back about the injury I sustained when I started running. I was doing the Couch to 5-K program, and had worked my way up to running for 20-minutes STRAIGHT on the treadmill (a huge feat for me). A couple of weeks after I started this regimen, I had this pain begin in my hip joint and it slowly crept down to my knee so that my whole upper-leg on my left side was really hurting.

The pain was especially bad in my hip joint. Dr. R diagnosed it as illiotibial band syndrome, and that was that. I stopped working out and let it "heal" and in the last few weeks I've been pain-free. So, I decided to start working out/running again.

I went ONE day, and my leg started hurting all over again. ONE STINKIN' DAY, people! I was so frustrated I wanted to scream! I was telling our assistant principal about it and he suggested I try the chiropractor. So, I have an appointment today at 2:45, and I'm really hoping and praying he has an answer and can "fix" me! Here's the catch. They don't take our insurance, the first appointment is an exam, and it's going to cost me $175. Bummer. Real bummer.

BUT...if he can fix the pain in my leg and get me running again, it will be TOTALLY worth it!

It wouldn't be so frustrating if I knew what was wrong. Maybe after today, I will!

  1. Hey girl! I hope the chiropracter works!!! Hope you get to feeling better. I did the Couch-2-5k also. I think I'm going to break it back out so I can run the Jingle bell Run...MAYBE :).

  4. You will be amazed how much better you feel, and to know it was done without medications covering the pain. I love my chiro, and he has helped me with lots of aches and pains. I am so glad to see you are doing better.
