So, Wednesday while I was at the doctor, she did what is called a Fetal Fibronectin swab. If you're a nerd like me, a fact junkie at heart, click on the link and read about it. It's actually pretty interesting.
The teacher in me can't help but give an image, as well, for all of you visual learners like me.
Basically, fFN tests your likelihood of going into labor within the next 2 weeks.
Yeah, kinda scary.
And you can't get the results back immediately. You have to wait a couple of days.
If the results are negative, then your chances of going into labor soon are very small, almost nothing.
If the results are positive, it could mean impending labor/delivery, but you can also have false positives, some of which are exacerbated by cervical cerclages (remember, I had one of those in November).
I called yesterday but because of some issues at the office, the results wouldn't be in until today. My AWESOME doctor has an electronic information portal for her office and emailed me early this a.m. that my results were up on the website.
And they were....
NEGATIVE!!!!!!!! Woo hoo!
As we say in the South, I'm pleased as punch, y'all.
