Pregnancy Highlights: 28 Weeks

How far along: 28 weeks TODAY!  Y'all, I'm starting the THIRD TRIMESTER!  Can you believe it?

Size of Babies:  By this week, the babies weigh two and a quarter pounds, like a Chinese cabbage (maybe Reese, but Truett is way past that...I'm guessing he's already pushing, if not at/over, 3 pounds) and measure 14.8 inches from the top of their heads to their heels. They can blink their eyes, which now sport lashes. With their eyesight developing, they may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. They're also developing billions of neurons in their brains and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Fraternal twins at 28 weeks gestation.  The one on the right is very similar to the way Reese is positioned...head down, RIGHT ON TOP of my cervix!

Total Weight Gain/Lost:  I'm sure I've gained at least a pound or two since my last appointment.  I'm probably around 40-42 pounds gained.  I really see it in my face/neck, my upper legs, and my back (ugh).  I tried to put on some pre-pregnancy pajama pants because my maternity/bigger ones were all in the wash.  That was hysterical.  One pair, I couldn't even get past my hips!  HA!  So, I had to raid McH's drawers and borrow some of his, which, thank goodness, are still a little big on me, but super comfy!

Maternity Clothes: Pretty much all the time.  If it's not maternity, it's L or XL, or one of McH's shirts or pajama pants.

Gender: Baby A is a GIRL (Reese Kathleen) and Baby B is a BOY (Truett Zeldon).

Movement: Oh, yes.  All the time!  Love it, love it!  Their movements have definitely gotten more intense, too.  They are now kicking and punching and my belly moves like crazy!  It's amazing!  I've waited 4 long years for this and I can say I've already started thinking about how much I will miss feeling them moving around.
Sleep:  Still here and there.  Lately, I can sleep okay, when I'm actually sleeping except that I'm constantly stuffy at night so I'm up several times a night trying anything and everything to be able to breathe.

What I Miss:  I have really started to miss my friends and seeing people on a regular basis.  But, I'm getting used to it.

Cravings:  Still would love a Coke Zero and BACON!  I seriously can't get enough of it!  Oh, and cinnamon rolls.  That's my new favorite breakfast:  cinnamon rolls, bacon, and juice/water.

Symptoms: Some swelling, lots of aches and pains, an extremely stuffy nose, and a BIG BELLY!  Of course there are other things but I won't dare mention them here!  HA!

Best moment for this week:  While my mom was here, we got the first coat of paint on the nursery walls, and I got a package in the mail with all of the nursery bedding/rocking chair pads/valance.  They are absolutely perfect and you can't get better than handmade, especially when it's by someone you know!  My other "best moment" was I experienced baby hiccups for the first time a couple of days ago, and my mom and McH got to feel them, too.  I had been wondering if I would ever get to feel them in utero, and sure enough, sitting watching t.v. the other night, Truett starts hiccuping!  It was great!
