Pregnancy Highlights: 33 Weeks

How far along: 33 Weeks Today!  Most weeks seem to fly by, but this last week has crept along.

Size of Babies:  Here's what BabyCenter.com has to say:  This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (think a whole pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance). These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Looking forward to seeing how much they actually weigh at our appointment on Wednesday, the 23rd.

Total Weight Gain/Lost: Not sure.  We will find out on Wednesday at my next appointment.  I'm thinking I've probably gained a few since my last appointment just because I feel so much bigger and am really feeling the weight on my legs and feet.

Maternity Clothes: Yep.  This question is kind of funny to me now, because there is just no way I could ever wear regular clothes at this point, unless they were McH's.  I just bought a few new shirts on Clearance from Motherhood, and I will probably buy some things to wear in the hospital, but I'm hoping I won't have to make many more purchases as far as maternity clothes go.

Gender: Baby A is a GIRL (Reese Kathleen) and Baby B is a BOY (Truett Zeldon).

Movement: Yes, still lots of movement and its pretty predictable.  They move a lot when I'm in the bathtub, or when I'm on my side.  They are very active mid-morning and then very inactive in the afternoon, and then active again right at my bedtime, around 9.

Sleep:  Still not great, but I think that is what should be expected at this point. I am back on my acid reflux/heartburn and it has helped my sleeping a bit.  Now, my sleep is impeded mostly because I am having really bad allergies and I can't breathe at night.

Oh, and one more lovely fact...I've started snoring!  I mean y'all, it's so bad sometimes, that I wake myself up!  HA!  I never, ever thought I would be a snorer and I'm PRAYING I go back to not being one once the babies are here!

What I Miss:  Sleeping on my stomach, for sure!  I guess I miss feeling "normal."  Right now I'm just so awkward and can't do much of anything.  I'm ready to be back to myself in most ways.

Cravings:  Nothing really.  Last week I posted about McHotterson getting me 4 pints of ice cream.  I should have mentioned I did NOT eat them all at once!  I still have 1 1/2 in the freezer.  :)  I do still love my chocolate milk, so that's the closest thing to cravings I've had recently, I guess.

Symptoms:  I am a waddler, for sure, all the time nowadays!  I am so fortunate to not have much swelling at all.  In fact, I'm still wearing my wedding rings, and, thinking there was no way it would work, I put my boots on the other day and they fit just fine...not even tight.  Otherwise, I have just normal things happening...my feet hurt, I'm tired all the time, and I have no stamina.

Also, I have to admit something:  I had already found a couple places where some stretch marks were starting to creep up.  I was so excited because I had made it so far with none, so when I found these two places (oddly enough in the exact same spot on each side of my hips, really low...like where you would put your hands on your hips) I was a little bummed.  I was really trying to avoid stretch marks.  Well, a couple of days ago, I found some more on my belly and I almost cried.  I know after the babies are here I probably won't even give them a second thought, but y'all, I am watching my body change PERMANENTLY right before my eyes!  It's not fun, plain and simple.  And stretch marks aren't pretty, no matter how many times sometime tries to make it sound better by calling them "battle wounds" or "love scars" or whatever.

Best moment for this week:  Thursday we took some maternity pictures with a local amateur photographer.  I was so excited and I'm hoping they all turned out as well as this "sneak peak" pic she sent us.  We had a great time documenting this point in our journey!

  5. I thought I had escaped without stretch marks the first time. But found some on the back of my thighs. :( I also had a few under my belly where I couldn't see until after he was born. So we'll see what happens with this little girl! I have been slathering on the Burt's Bee's. To be honest though... the weight bothers me more than the stretch marks.
Hope you share the maternity pics! The one is too cute!
