1, 2, THREE!

Here we are!  We're alive, and well, and...PREGNANT!

Let me explain why this is such a miracle and such a shock for us!

As most of you know, we did a round of in-vitro fertilization in August of 2010, and ended up pregnant with our precious twins, Reese and Truett.  From that cycle, we also were blessed with four embryos we were able to freeze to use later.

So, this summer we were going on a trip with my family to Hawaii, and before we left we scheduled with our fertility doctor to do our first FET (frozen embryo transfer) in September.  The babies would be almost 17 months old, so if we were to get pregnant, they would be a little over 2 years old when the new baby arrived.  Perfect.

Right?  Maybe?  Hopefully?

Okay, maybe not.

Just before we left for Hawaii (I'm talking maybe a week before), McHotterson and I came to each other, almost simultaneously, with the same thought...maybe we should wait a little longer to go in for our FET, so the babies will be a little older before we think about a new baby coming into the picture.

So, it was settled.  When we got back from vacation, I planned to call the doctor and tell her we wanted to postpone the FET for at least another six months.  No biggie.

We go to Hawaii...oh my...FABULOUS!  I can check that one off my bucket list.  We are definitely going back someday...SANS children.  Ha!  I really need to post about the trip, but I will say overall, the babies did wonderfully.

We spent 13 glorious days in The Aloha State, and then headed home.

A little while after, we are in Uvalde at my parents' for a family funeral, and I realize my cycle is late.  I honestly thought it was because of the time change and how exhausted we had been when we got home.  So, I didn't think much of it for a few days.  But after four days, I thought I'd just take a test, just to know that I wasn't pregnant.

So, I did.  And lo and behold.  It was POSITIVE!  I was shocked.  I just stood there.  I kept thinking, "But this doesn't happen to us.  It's not this easy.  We can't be pregnant.  It's gotta be a mistake."  But I knew in my heart, it wasn't.  Not long after that string of thoughts went through my head, McH walked in the room.  And I said, "You might want to take a look at this."

His first words..."Um, well that's a game changer!"  Ha!  I thought that was hilarious!

We knew I was about 5 weeks when I found out, so we decided to just tell our immediate family until we knew for sure things were okay.

So, I'm due March 19th, and I'm 13 weeks as of yesterday.  We've had 2 ultrasounds and all looked great!  This pregnancy has been very similar to my pregnancy with the babies.  I had some nausea, overall icky feelings, and nearly debilitating exhaustion (exacerbated by the fact that I was also trying not to fall asleep as two little munchkins crawled all over me).  But, as soon as I hit week 12, it all started to subside and I'm feeling great now!  Thank you, Jesus!

We saw our fertility doctor through week 12, and we were released to my OB after our last visit and ultrasound on the 4th.

Most people have asked when we will find out the gender of this baby, and honestly, I don't think we're going to.  We have one of each already, and really, I just think it is so sweet and fun to not know until the day the baby is born (although I couldn't have done it the first time around with the twins).  I'm not sure if it's going to be possible, though.  We've seen so many ultrasounds with the babies, the sonographer will have to be extra careful not to give us even a peek of any pieces-parts or we might figure it out.  So, we'll see if we can hold out.  Right now, I'm standing strong, but McH isn't sure he can make it until the end!  Ha!

So, there it is!  The biggest news of 2012 for the Jenkins' family...so far!  :)

And because I just can't resist it, here's a couple of little pictures of the sweet, little nugget.

PROFILE (sorry, I can't get it to turn)
