New news (is that redundant?)

Well, good news on the homefront. Although I am a tad nervous about this new venture, it is sure to be a challenge I will embrace! You are "talking to" the newest faculty member of Childress High School. I will be teaching sophomore English next year, including 4 sections of regular English, 1 section of AP English and 1 section of a dual-credit Senior English class through Clarendon Junior College. I am so looking forward to this new adventure, although the nervousness comes from having NO idea what sophomore curriculum looks like and having no idea how to handle classroom management of sophomores. I have heard they are the best age of all high schoolers, so I am looking forward to figuring this out for myself. If you are interested in looking at where I will be teaching, go here.

We also got SO much work done on the house this weekend, with the help of Rich's brother and sister-in-law and his mom and dad. We were able to finally finish the hardwood floor and painted all 3 bedrooms. We got the house swept and cleaned up, ready for the carpeters to lay new carpet in the bedrooms on the 23rd. The movers come the 24th and our stuff will be in our new domicile (shout out to you, Wilbur) by the 27th. This whole time I will be in Uvalde for Amy's shower..can't wait! That all makes me somewhat nervous, although I know Richard will be able to direct traffic just as well as I. So, as of May 24th, I will officially be a hobo! :)

  1. Join the club, my hobo sister...I'll be right there with you from June 1 to who knows in August when we finally get up to WA! Yay for living out of a suitcase! Yay for family members who will take us vagabonds in!

  2. CONGRATS on moving up to high school! I loved teaching sophomores, but the freshmen were my favorite...they were so challenging. I'm proud of you for accepting this position. I know you'll enjoy the more advanced literature part of teaching older kids! And of course, I'm always a phone call or e-mail away if you want to bounce any ideas off of me (or complain, or cry, or know those "teacher" needs from time to time!)

  3. Yea, Charla! You'll have such fun with your older students - and what an awesome opportunity for you professionally too!

I can't wait to see more pictures of your house - do you have some to post?

Comment away, y'all!
