Best husband award goes to...Richard Zeldon Jenkins

I just wanted the world to know (okay so maybe just the 5 or 10 people who actually read and care about this blog) what an amazingly wonderful husband I have. As some of you may know and some may not, we are not living in the same town at the moment. I used to say we were separated for a month, but I was getting strange looks and then having to clarify, so I have chosen my words more carefully since. I digress...when we had just started dating in 2000, we went to our respective homes for Christmas. This was about 2 months after we met. Our main form of communication was through email, which, just so you know, was the BEST way for us to communicate our feelings...way better than the phone. Most of you also know I HATE the phone, too, but that was not the reason I like emailing Rich better. We could express ourselves through written words and I LOVED that. It was ironic and in some ways paradoxical, because here we were, using the latest in technology to communicate, and yet it made me feel very old-worldish, like he was courting me through his letters. I printed them all and have them in "our" box (which he made for me one Valentine's Day). So, I called him last night, but he was out with a friend who had just lost his grandfather, so he didn't call me back. I checked my email today, and I had one from him, which is almost unheard of...he NEVER checks his email...drives me batty! It was filled with sweetness, and love and all the good stuff I am missing right now.

I just have to give you a small sample...not to brag, per se...okay yes, to brag... about how awesome this man is I am blessed to be married to.

"I think you might have to go to work with me for a month to make
up for the time that I haven't seen you!" (doesn't it just melt your heart?)

"I have to listen to my head right now, because if I
listened to my heart I would get in my truck and
wouldn't stop until I was in bed next to you tomorrow

This is why I thank my gracious God for him every day!

  1. Yes, Richard does indeed win the sweet hubby award! Way to go Richard!!!

  2. He sounds like a gem! My husband is often out of town and I am a firm beliver in absence makes the heart grow fonder.

  3. So sweet! Ryan just came home from 2 weeks in Amarillo with his family. They drove him nuts, so I KNOW (it's really obvious) that he is loving every minute of being home!

Totally unrelated - what are you reading right now? I emailed Corrie about the 3 of us doing an email book chat or at least exchanging titles of what we're reading.

  4. Ooooo...I'm reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It is WONDERFUL! Full of imagery, themes, life lessons...right up all of our allies! AND, I would LOVE to start a book chat or swap ideas through our blogs. I think I actually mentioned that on my blog at one time.

  5. So, have you finished The Secret Life......? I found it ironic that while I was reading it one of my daily readings was:
"Kind words are like honey- sweet to the soul and healthy for the body." Proverbs 16:24
    Love, Mom

Comment away, y'all!
