-And, on April 10th, in Victoria, Texas at exactly 12:41 p.m., I was born!

Yes, today was my birthday and, much to my surprise, it turned out to be a very nice one. I started the day with a "Happy Birthday, baby," from Richard this morning as I flew out of the house. I had the birthday song sung to me several times throughout the day...by students, coaches, and best of all, by my parents and a group of their singin' & guitar pickin' friends! It was great, harmony and all! I received some nice cards, several sweet emails, a gift basket full of yummy snacks from the Breakfast Club (a group of teachers who all have 1st period off and often spend it together) some $$, and a few voice mails/phone calls. Richard brought me flowers, a card, and rented Over The Hedge for us to watch. My actual birthday present was our trip to Austin to see The Lion King on stage. We dined at Thai Kitchen (yes, believe it or not Childress has a really good little Thai restaurant...go figure) and are now about to settle in with the movie and each other!

So, here's to the first 28 years and many more to come, God willing. I am thankful for all I have learned and all there is to learn from the experiences He will no doubt lead me into and through! Thanks to everyone for making my day so special!

  4. Three tornadoes converged on Withchita Falls on April 10th just as a 4th little tornado was taking her first breaths in Victoria. One of the phone calls we made on the 11th was to find out how friends had weathered the storm in Wichita Falls.....they left their house at the last minute and half of it was blown away! What memories!!! We love you- Mom

  5. Sounds like you had a nice day. I usually remember your birthday because it is the day after our anniversary. Your Mom was one of the few people to acknowledge our anniversary. It is a hard day for me because my husband never remembers it anymore. Garrett is one of those good 1979 babies too! Love ya lots!
