Monday I had a doctor's appointment with my OBGYN in Lubbock. For those of you who do not know, we are about 2.5 hours from Lubbock so doctor's appointment days are a pretty big ordeal for us. We try to schedule appointments for the same day, but this time it just didn't work out. So, we are headed back tomorrow for an appointment with the fetal/maternal specialist (my favorite because we get to see the great pictures and get all of the babies' measurements, and see how much they've grown).
McH didn't go with me because it was just a check-up...no ultrasound...and he needed to be at work.
The appointment itself was pretty uneventful. I've gained 5 pounds in the last 3 weeks (YAY!), my blood pressure was good, and urinalysis was negative. All good news.
Then, the nurse decided to do my first, official fundus measurement. If you don't know what that is, look it up. Basically, it is a measurement of your tummy size. Well, that's the elementary explanation. Like I said, look it up if you need further explanation.
As she's finishing her measurement, she looks up and says with complete nonchalance, "So, you're measuring 29 weeks, and you're...(as she look at her notes), 19 weeks and 2 days."
And what was my reaction? Laughter. Purely. It's all I could do. Say what? 29 weeks? Are you sure? So, if I do the Math, I could be pregnant for 50 weeks?!?! Am I carrying a baby elephant, or what?
She didn't seem to think there was anything to it; she acted like it was just as normal as me sitting there breathing. Except I was laughing and breathing at the same time. And she just went right on about her merry way.
And I called McHotterson to tell him the news.
So, tonight, I thought it was time to try to get a better quality belly shot of my almost-20-week front end.
And NOW, I can see all 29 weeks of it. Yep. Guess the tape measure was right.
Try not to laugh quite as much as I did...OH, what the heck, go ahead! It's funny!
And I'm LOVING every inch of it!

ReplyDeleteThat's the best 29 week measurement I've ever seen. You look fantastic! We are just under 2 hrs to go see our doc, and I know what you mean about looong days. I can't imagine another half hour tacked on-exhausting! Keep up the courage! You will be happy when babes come and you won't be running to the city all the time. We sure were! :)
